How to check the current qubit level?

1. Qubit level is one of the parameters that describes your base. You can check it at the the research laboratory or the quantum computer (Lifepaths). You start at level one.

How do I advance to a higher level?

1. To unlock the next levels, you will need qubit chips, which you can acquire as you progress in the game.
2. You can craft the first chip in Act 1. Focus on exploring the planet. You will find a container with a damaged chip (pictured above) near a mineral deposit and a group of anomalies Examining it will unlock the optional task A Mysterious Device.

1. At the nearest opportunity talk to Jan the Technician and tell him what you found.
2. You'll then be able to craft a qubit chip at the workshop. You'll need one damaged chip, 20 metals and 20 minerals.

1. After crafting the chip, take it to the quantum computer. The chip will be installed automatically after you hold down the button. You'll be notified that your qubit level increased by one. You can level it up further later on in a similar manner.

What are the rewards for higher qubit levels?

Increasing your qubit level is worthwhile, as it grants you rewards:

1. Unlocking new research levels - you will gain access to new projects that Jan the Scientist can work on in the Research Laboratory. These include technologies tied to the main story as well as various upgrades to the base and gameplay mechanics.

1. Unlocking access to new Alters - you can learn about the requirements for creating Alters while browsing lifepaths. As shown in the picture, Jan the Doctor becomes available after reaching qubit level 3.
2. Increasing the maximum number of Alters in your base - at first your base can hold only three different Alters, which may prove to be not enough later on.
