Rooks Keep is a fantasy action game with a third party perspective (TPP). Players play the roles of knights or beasts fighting bloody duels using a variety of weapons. RuneStorm's production offers a variety of gameplay options - from arena fights to traditional chess.
Rooks Keep is the first game by South African studio RuneStorm to be released commercially. Previously, the development trio - Nolan, Arn and Logan Richertowie were famous for producing modifications to games from the Unreal Tournament cycle, including Ballistic Weapons and Junk War.
The game is devoid of plot. The action, however, is set in a fantastic world where gloomy knights struggle with grotesque beasts, taking part in gladiatorial duels in arenas or typical battles.
Rooks Keep offers many options for fun. The arena includes a number of classic modes such as deathmatch, team deathmatch or last man standing, as well as a slightly more innovative conversion, in which the defeated opponents are "converted" and the team. Melee combat is a classic slasher in which you have to defeat your enemies using different types of attacks, dodges, blocks or special skills. The chess option allows you to test your chess skills in the traditional or battle version (attacking and attacking figures fight a short duel to determine the winner).
RuneStorm's production is geared towards multiplayer gameplay via LAN or the Internet, and in the case of chess, it can also be a "hot chair". However, solo game fans can replace live opponents with bots controlled by artificial intelligence.
Rooks Keep's visual luminaire stands out positively from competitive, low-budget independent productions. Much of this is due to the technology used - the Unreal Development Kit, which allows to obtain high quality 3D graphics and smooth animations. With the included UnrealEd editor, players can also create their own boards and modifications.
