Update (June 11th, 08:23 am PT)

After 8:00 am PT, people started sharing their thoughts about the demo of Resident Evil Requiem online. They confirm the reports below.

Original news (June 11th, 07:09 am PT)

Information from a 30-minute demo of Resident Evil Requiem has leaked online, which Capcom apparently wanted to keep secret for a while longer. Although the material was quickly removed from XboxEra, internet s managed to capture key details that may herald a big revolution in the series.

According to leaks, it seems that in Resident Evil Requiem, we will start the game in first-person perspective, similar to Village, and later switch to the traditional third-person view. What's important - players will then be able to freely switch between both camera modes, just like in the Winters' Expansion expansion for the eighth installment.

If this information turns out to be true, Capcom will give players a unique combination of two perspectives that were previously separate, depending on the title. This solution could not only reconcile fans of both approaches but also diversify the pace and atmosphere of the game.

But that's not the end of the revelations. The post also revealed that during the show, the devs of Requiem announced that in the game, we will be able to take control of another playable and, importantly, known character, with a substantial arsenal of weapons. Even though the second character's identity hasn't been revealed yet, an industry insider, Dusk Golem, hinted that it might be Leon S. Kennedy.

Work on Resident Evil 9 has been the subject of rumors for several years, but it was only during the Summer Game Fest 2025 that Capcom officially announced the game. The release is set for February 27, 2026, so fans have some time to enjoy theories and speculations before diving back into the world of survival horror.
